On Sunday night Damien and I made our way to my old hostel
to have dinner and say farewell to all the new friends there.

After cheating a little by taking a taxi up the hill we
walked up the stairs through the favela to the hostel we enjoyed a great
farewell dinner, beers and Caipirinhas.

On our walk down through the favela we made a stop at a local shop and bought 2 quarts as loop dops...it is a long walk after all :-)

After a taxi ride, where we were not allowed to drink in the cab so Damien managed to steal a few sips behind the driver's back, we made it back to the hostel and went looking for a midnight snack. Just around the corner we found a place that was selling pie like things with assorted fillings. Now the fun was about to begin. The lady kept saying words in portuguese to explain what was inside and we kept guessing in english...needless to say we had no idea what was inside. Eventually I had the bright idea of making animal sounds hoping this would help with our guessing game. All it did was made us laugh even more!

After eventually managing to make a choice (which turned out to be chicken) we were standing at a table and enjoying our snack and a beer and some more people arrived. Lucky for them they could speak Portuguese so their ordering process was a lot quicker but then came the fun. They were a couple and in broken English and Portuguese the woman took to Damien's charm instantly. Here partner was not very impressed by this and constantly marked his territory with a kiss here and there.

To avoid any trouble we decided to return home and call it a night.

Thanks to all for making this hostel experience so awesome
and I wish you all safe and fun filled onward travels.
