When
I got up I went to the bar for breakfast and made plans for the day. I met
Cheryl and Rowan at a coffee shop where we chatted for a while before we headed
out on a walking tour with Rowan as our guide.

On
the walk we saw multiple plazas and old buildings and one really interesting
fact was that the reason that some clocks are backwards is because the sun
dials used to be that way and this was a way to keep that heritage.

We
kept walking and as it started raining we ran into a raw food market with all
sorts of cuts of meat and even what looked like some thin biltong. After a
quick walk around we decided to give the crazy Dave tour a miss and went to get
some lunch at tia gladys (same place we had breakfast yesterday before death
road).

After
lunch we went to San Pedro plaza where the infamous prison is. The prison
hardly looks like a prison with a high wall and a few guards visible but also
multiple queues at the gates for people trying to get in. We didn't manage to
get inside but this prison is also very different on the inside. It is run by
the prisoners who have their families living inside with them. There are only
guards on the outside and your standard of accommodation depends on how much u
can pay.

We
then made our way to the yellow cable car to get to the top of a hill and
overlook La Paz. The city is huge with buildings on any piece of land available
and all the way up all the hills (and there are many). One thing that stands
out is that not many houses are painted and almost all the houses remain the
terracotta colour of the bricks.

After
enjoying the view we made our way back down and back to the hostel were I
packed my bag before making my way to the bar for some food and beer. We then
went to meet Cheryl and Rowan in town and enjoyed some farewell drinks for
Cheryl who was off on her long journey home in the morning before heading home.
