I
woke up at about 6 with a rain storm and fortunately managed to get back to
sleep and got up to enjoy some breakfast in the casa before putting a bag together
and getting ready for a walk along the beach and onto the peninsula (if it's
possible).

I
started out along the Malicon and then along Baracoa beach. You can enter the
baseball stadium from the beach so I went inside and found a guy practicing his
pitching. I watched for a while before making my way back to the beach to keep
walking. Eventually I hit the end where I hoped to be able to carry on to the
peninsula and around to Playa Blanca but there was a river in my way. I spotted
a bridge up the river so backtracked a bit and found a path to the bridge and a
friendly local who gave me some directions. Once across the bridge we parted
ways and I found the entrance kiosk and grabbed a Tukola before walking to the
beach. It's a tiny beach and has white sand and is surrounded by lava rock (I
think). I walked along the rocks a bit to get a different view before jumping
in for a swim.

After
sitting on a rock and drying off a little I collected my things and headed back
towards Baracoa. The wind had picked up which helped keep me cool in the midday
heat. I enjoyed the walk along the beach and once on the Malicon I found a bar
where I enjoyed a few mojitos before heading back to my casa for some rest.

After
a nap I met up with the German girls who were waiting for their husbands. We
chatted for a while and continued chatting when their husbands arrived. We all
then went looking for a restaurant and found a place called La Libertad where I
had shrimps in a coconut sauce. Again it was over cooked and disappointing but
the mojitos and conversation made it a great evening. After dinner we walked to
the main square and found a bar for a few more mojitos before going in search
of some music and dancing.

There
was only one place which was just next to the church and there were people all
over but very few dancing. After watching the band and listening to the music
for a while we called it a night and as we did so did the band.

Back
at the casa I went to the terrace to enjoy a cigar and some whisky before
heading to bed.
