We
arrived at the bus terminal at about 6 and we got our bearings and decided to
trust Google who said the hostel was far away so Joyce and u grabbed a cab
which took us2 blocks to our hostel.
At
the hostel we managed to settle in, shower and plan our day. We started our day
with getting some cash at the ATM before hitting the market for some local food
and ice cream. The food was awesome but the ice cream was a major let down.
We
then took a walk to the colectivo stop to head to Homun to go look at the
canotes. We got a guide who took us on his scooter around to Santa Marta, San
Antonio and 3 Ochos. They were all beautiful with underground caves with water
and great rock formations. We enjoyed a swim in them all but at the last one (3
Ochos) I jumped off a tree into the clear water below. After enjoying the water
and adrenaline we called it a day and returned to the colectivo stop for
Merida. It was great fun having all 3 of us on the scooter but am glad we
didn't have to go far as I kept burning my leg on the exhaust.
In
Merida there was a big storm brewing so we made our way to a restaurant to grab
a late lunch and avoid the rain. I had an awesome meal but Joyce's meal was
really bland which is very unusual.
After
the meal we walked around for a few hours before returning to the hostel to
chat to some of the other guests before calling it a night.
