We got a late start to the day and where Rebecca got to working and I made my way into the downtown area to have a walk around. By the time I got there it was already dusk so enjoyed the parks and the bean first before wondering around the city.

I enjoyed some of the old buildings and the iconic Chicago theatre sign and famous Macys window displays before making my way to Willis (ex Sears) tower for some views of the city. It was the tallest building in the world for a long time and is now the tallest in the USA.

In the Skydeck I got some great views of the city by night and scared the he'll out of myself. I have never been the best with heights. I managed to make my way into the glass floor for a few photos but I wasn't able to stay there long and I was definitely not able to look down!

Once I got back down to ground level I found a bar around the corner for some much needed refreshment while I waited for Rebecca to finish her work so I could get some world famous Chicago deep dish pizza into my belly!

Some of the key things about the downtown area that stand out for me are the alleys and elevated freeways which seem so familiar from various movies that have been based in Chicago.

The pizza was very tasty but not really a pizza like I know it. The crust was not as bready as normal pizza and it was incredibly cheesy and now I understand why people here call it pizza pie. I think I still prefer the Italian style thin crust.

After dinner we met up with some of Rebecca's friends and headed to some bars where we enjoyed some drinks, conversation and dancing.
