After
an awesome sleep we were up and actually early for our bus. We met up with
Lilly and the rest of the group before jumping on the bus and making our way up
to a very wet, cold, cloudy and rainy Machu Picchu.

Lilly
took us through the temples explaining them to us. These buildings and
techniques continue to amaze me. The important buildings (temples, house where
an inca would stay, etc) were all constructed with great care and shaping the
rocks to ensure a good fit with very little space between them. Whereas the
houses of the farmers were less carefully constructed with using mud as mortar
but the rocks were still shaped to ease Construction. Certain rocks were even
shaped into cylinders and stuck out the sides of the buildings to support the
thatch roofs.

Unfortunately
I don't remember all that Lilly explained but everything was fascinating and I
am still amazed sitting here writing this over a month later. After we walked
around the ruins with Lilly Gillian and I found a bench and sat there for about
an hour looking at the cloud covered mountains and ruins and we were even
visited by 2 llamas. By this time the rain had stopped but when it started
again we decided to call it a day and made our way to the exit where we caught
a bus back to Aguas Calientes. Obviously I got some more sleep.

We
went back to the hostel to collect our bags and then went in search of lunch
and beer. We found a place next to the railway line but were not that impressed
with the food. After lunch we took a walk around the town and through a market
before having a seat on a bench. After sitting there for a while we looked at
each other and said "What do we do for the next 3 hours" and the
answer was "let's go to the hot springs". We made our way back up the
hill and rented some towels before making our way into the hot springs.

The
first pool we got into was like warm but still OK. We sat in here for a while
and were even able to avoid the rain by moving under the bridge above us. After
a while Giovani and Marte came past and told us the other one was much hotter.
We looked at each other and got into the other pool where we stayed for about
an hour before having to make our way to get food and catch out train.

We
each grabbed a sarmie and went to the train station where we waited for a while
before boarding. On the train we met up with Giovani and Marte again but we all
decided that this would be the perfect place for some sleep so there was not
much conversation.

After
sleeping through some loud Argentinians talking we hopped off the train and
onto the bus to head towards Cusco. The bus was a tight squeeze with the seats
really close together but I still managed to get some sleep. In Cusco gills and
I made our way to Nortons where we said farewell to Giovani and Marte before
heading upstairs for a drink.

One
turned into two and eventually we closed the place before heading back to the
hostel and checking in and having a shower before calling it a night.
