Today got off to an early start by waking at my usual 6am. I
tried to get back to sleep but to no avail so I got up and had a coffee and
enjoyed the early morning view...that hill is really worth the walk!

After taking it easy we (the hostel owner as guide and a
group from the hostel) went to Niteroi
by taking a ferry across the bay which gave some great views of Rio itself and
also the bridge that connects Rio and Niterio.

We then took a walk to the fish marked where the fun
began...wow. There was just so much fish and it all was calling me (have a look
at the pics and see what I mean). After choosing, thank goodness I didn’t have
to, we went upstairs where they cooked it for us. It was delicious!

The original plan was to then go up one of the mountains on
Niteroi to get a view of the bay and Rio but none of us could move let lone
walk up a mountain! Instead, we decided to head to the beach...what Rio day
would be complete without the beach!

We went to Leme beach and I finally had my first swim! The
water is just like Cape Town (OK, maybe a little warmer) and once I was in I
couldn’t get out. It was so refreshing and relaxing.

We are now back at the hostel after another glorious sunset
view and making some dinner and raising my glass to Cindee and Allen. Congrats on your engagement !!!
