As
we had to change hostels we were up early to pack our bags and put them in
storage and sent away some laundry before making our way to go rafting.

From
the office we went to a little store unit where we got all our gear (wetsuit,
helmet, booties, etc). We then got back in the van which now had some boats
attached to it. We drove for about 30 minutes before stopping and jumping out
and getting our life jackets and our first set of instructions.

Rebecca
and I were seated in the front which got us nice and wet when going through the
rapids and also got us thrown about a little. Throughout the trip the guide was
giving us instructions on how to approach each rapid and to listen to his
instructions while in the rapid.

All
in all the rafting was great fun with many laughs and swims (intentional). The
only downer was that my camera cable snapped and I lost my camera but
fortunately it was only the pics from that day that were lost.

Once
we were back in town we went in search of a cheap hot dog place that someone
had told us about but couldn’t find any of them so we settled for a beer and
burger instead.

After
lunch we met up with Tai and Krista to go to the beach. Not sure if I would
call it a beach as it had black sand (from lava rock I think) and it was on a
lake…Nevertheless it was very busy. We got our spot and enjoyed some sunshine
before having a swim.

From
the beach we went to the office to select our gear for the trek up the volcano
tomorrow and grabbed some trail mix at the supermarket…yes, I got more trail
mix.

At
the hostel we made some dinner and enjoyed some wine before calling it a night
but stayed up chatting and laughing until all hours…
