I
woke up and got myself a coffee and some internet before heading to the train
to terminal 2 where I was able to check in before grabbing some food. I am also
preparing myself for no internet while in Cuba so catching up on what I can.
After a very expensive breakfast I went through security and found a bench
where I managed to get a little more sleep.

I
managed to board the flight and had some more sleep on board before watching
some series before we landed. The passport control in Cuba was a breeze and it
didn't take long for me to get my bag. Once through the arrival gates I entered
a whole new world. For the main airport of the country it was small and very
dated (as you would expect). I found a cambio office and changed some money
before grabbing a cab to Rolandos Backpackers in the centre.

On
the way we drove through various areas and I noticed how much repair all the
buildings needed. I also started seeing all the old cars in different states
from about to fall apart to being in prestige condition. About 90% of cars in
Cuba are taxis and most of them are illegal but the police don't enforce these
rules very strictly.

When
we arrived at Rolandos I went upstairs in the hope that they would have space
but unfortunately she didn't so she called her friend a block away who was able
to accommodate me. After traveling for a few days I desperately needed a shower
and enjoyed it immensely before taking a walk to the Malicon and a bit of the
old town.

Once
it started pouring with rain I caught some shelter outside a fancy hotel and
while I stood there had 2 prostitutes (well, they say they were teachers but I
don't think so from what they were wearing and how they were acting) kept me
entertained before I took advantage in a slowing down in the downpour to make
my escape.

Throughout
my walk locals kept coming up to me and being very friendly and then asking me
to buy them something which was all just a ploy to get money from me. I was
surprised at how many people were speaking English though.

On
the way back to my casa I grabbed some dinner. In the room I met my roommate
and we chatted a while before he left to get some dinner and shortly afterwards
I passed out.
