There was a lot of noise around my room so I wasn't able to sleep very late. I grabbed some WiFi for the first time in a few days and met some of the people who work at the hostel and arranged a group of people to get some lunch later.

We then took a walk to the market to get some food (which wasn't very good) and enjoyed all the fresh produce on offer. The market was huge and a little different to the other markets I have seen. It had more wooden structures and more diversity of fresh goods and clothing. Behind the market we even found a bus station with all the old school buses that are now used as the local transport.

We then made our way to book a tour to hike the volcano (Acatenango) which is dormant and get a view of the active volcano across the city. It should provide good views but is going to be tough. We then met the group to grab some food at a chicken bus that's been converted into a restaurant. The group was about 15 strong and we took a walk to the restaurant but it was closed.

The locals then suggested a local place that we made our way to but stopped to try a Picosita. This is a beer with salsa picante, salt, lime and Worcestershire sauce. It was a little unusual but is supposed to be eaten with ceviche so I can see how they would complement each other. We got to the restaurant and it seems very popular and the food was awesome. We enjoyed some chats before returning to the hostel for some rest.

I then went to Sky Bar to meet up with Sam and Jane who I met in Huanchaco and they have been making their way up central since we last saw each other there. We enjoyed some good catching up and hearing about each other’s trips over a beer before we had to part ways again. I went back to my hostel to pack and unpack for the hike before meeting up with Ryan and going to get some snacks and water.

At the hostel we had a couple of drinks before calling it an early night in preparation for the tough day ahead.
