We
were up early to have breakfast and get the day going and after breakfast we
helped Milton pack the car and then headed out. Due to the really cold temp
during the night the windscreen was covered in ice but we were in a rush so we
got going anyway and Milton only had a little whole to see out off but it
wasn't long before the windscreen was clear.

Our
first stop was called rock tree. In this area there were massive rocks in the
middle of the desert (thrown there from a volcano) which had been eroded over
time to form interesting shapes. The most famous shape is that of a rock that
looks like a tree.

From
here we went to a few lagunas (can't remember all their names) which all
provided for more amazing views. From the lagunas we made our way to villa alota
where we had a diy tuna salad for lunch.

On
our way to a salt hotel, where we were staying for the night, we stopped on a
smaller salt flat which had a railway line running through it. Here David (a
German guy) found some foam and was enjoying spraying people and kept the team
spirit going. We Kept going through a few little towns and scattered
plantations of quinoa.

As
we came down from mountain we looked over the salt flats and found some massive
cacti. Here the drivers gave us some of
the cactus fruit which was very sweet and yummy. We eventually made it to the
salt hotel while the sun was setting behind us. In the hotel the main area was
all made from salt (beds, bar, tables, wall, etc.).

We
had some tea and coffee before trying to have a shower but there was only hot
water in a few rooms so we all took turns in going to them and in the end we
all enjoyed a good hot shower.

After
showering we had dinner which was grilled chicken and chips with some veg and
we even got a bottle of wine for the table. After dinner we sat drinking wine
we had bought earlier and playing a few games.

As
could be expected we got to bed later than intended due to the distractions of
wine and good conversation.

We
spent most of the day between 4000m and 3700m with our hotel being at about
3800m.
