We were up at 4am (not that we slept much) to make our way to the top of Acatenango for sunrise. This was meant to be the hardest section of the hike but as we had no packs and were more accustomed to the uphill it wasn't so bad. We kept going for an hour and a bit before we hit the top.

What a feeling of achievement it was. All the hiking to this point was uphill and exhausting due to the soft terrain. The views made it all worth it. Watching the sunrise towards Guatemala City while Fuego was erupting was amazing. We even managed to see two other volcanos erupt in the distance. At the top it was rather cold as we were now at almost 4000m and the wind was icy. As the sun started appearing we were able to see the ocean to the one side and Lake Atitlan in the other.

As it was now light we started making our way down to get some breakfast. We practically ran down as it was easier then stopping on the soft gravel. We enjoyed some breakfast and took down our camp before getting going. As the rest of the hiking was all downhill we didn't take as long and Ryan and I started leading the group in search of some cold rewarding beer.

We were even rewarded with some warm food while we waited for the group. When they all arrived we celebrated with some more beers before jumping in a yellow school bus to head back to Antigua. In the hostel we had a few more drinks before having a shower and a nap. After the nap we chatted to some more travelers and got a party together for the night ahead. We went to a few bars and a club (closing all) before heading to an after party which was the only thing open at that time. We closed that as well before calling it a night.
