Gills
had an early morning flight so we were up by 4 but fortunately I could stay in
bed while she packed the last of her things and we said our farewells. For some
reason her pickup didn't arrive so she ran back to the room to get some cash
for a cab and made her way to the airport which, unfortunately, she managed to
do.

I
took advantage of my early rise to have a skype with Ven and the my folks
before having some more sleep. I then repacked my back and made my way to
Starbucks to meet Tina. We enjoyed some coffee and WiFi before taking a walk
around to get some souvenirs.

By
this stage we were both rather hungry and I really wanted to try cuy el horno
(roast guinea pig) so we went to Don Thomas. I received my cuy and there it was
just sitting on my plate looking at me crackling skin and all. After some
photos and admiration by other patrons they took it back into the kitchen to
cut it for me. The cuy was really tasty with a chicken like texture but with a
much more gamey taste.

After
lunch Tina and I had a few hours to kill before the bus so ended up at Wild
Rover. From here I collected my bags and we made our way to the Peru Hop
offices where we stood in half shelter from the rain before jumping in a mini
bus to take us to the main bus.

When
we saw the bus we knew it was not the correct one. The toilets stank, the seats
hardly reclined and people got stuck in the toilet the whole night. This is
going to be an interesting journey. Everyone including the staff were shocked
with the bus but there was nothing we could do. Fortunately Tina had a bottle
of wine in her bag so we quickly opened that and demolished it and at the next
stop I was looking forward to some food and all I was able to do was stock up
on some booze. Not that much of a problem. This also helped me get some sleep
on a very uncomfortable bus...
