I managed to get up without any hassles and got my taxi and onto the train quick and easy. When the train left there were so many spare seats and it made me wonder if I was just unlucky yesterday or something. The further we went the more passengers we picked up and the more full the train got.

The past 2 nights have been the coldest that they have had around here for the year which was understandable with all the snow around. The snow provided for some great views but even with the heating in the train it was cold. The scenery for the first few hours wasn't anything to spectacular but once we got deeper into the canyon and forest we met up with a river that we followed for some time which made for great views of the river with mountains and snow around. As we Kept going the scenery changed every now and then but was pretty much the same with snow, trees, mountains and the odd little village.

I waited for the famous loop (where the train crosses over itself) for my drink of the day shot, which was a long wait. I was a little disappointed with it but then I'm not sure what I expected. Once the first drink fell the others followed quickly so I grabbed some lunch and warmed up. I got the timing completely wrong as just as I ordered we stopped for 30 minutes to enable us to walk around Davisadero. I gobbled my food and managed to have a few minutes off the train but nothing substantial. Once back on and we were moving again I took my seat to let the food settle and had an unexpected nap. It was a late lunch and when I woke up the sun was setting so I decided to brave the cold and stand in the open to enjoy the views and take more photos.

Once the sun set there wasn't much that we could see. I did go get another beer and found out that the train may only get into Los Mochis at midnight which would make catching a bus a little difficult but decided to address that when it came up. I sat and enjoyed my beer before having another little nap. Fortunately it's dark now so I'm not missing much.

Once night fell I brought out my book and picked up on Mr Mercedes which I left a while ago. I got right back into it and the rest of the journey flew past. We arrived in Los Mochis at midnight and I grabbed a cab with a few other people and headed to the TAP bus station. It seems like everyone had the same idea but fortunately I was one of the first ones in the queue and got my ticket which was one of the last ones on the bus. I spent the wait reading some more before catching some sleep on the bus.

Chepe Notes:
Don't do it like I did!
The economy carriages are connected to the express carriages (on the days the economy runs) so you still stop more along the way which means you miss the last 6 hours of views (where you are crossing rivers and should have good views). The dining cart and bar are not worth the extra 30%. Rather just make yourself something to eat on the train and take some drinks with you.

I did it at a very busy time of the year (between Christmas and New Year) and at this time of year the sun also sets earlier. It was nice to see the snow but I feel like I missed out on plenty of the trip due to the non express train and time of year I went.
