It was a slow day with waking up on the bus and drifting back asleep. We made the standard stop for food at some random place on the side of the road. I wasn't hungry so I didn't venture out but instead continued to read. It wasn't long before I finished the book and started another one called Gone Girl. I am enjoying reading again and it really is a good way to pass the time on these busses but I think I'm going to have to get some more books soon!
I didn't manage to read much on the rest of the trip as I kept falling asleep. When I was awake I noticed the at the scenery was much more green and it felt warmer. Eventually we arrived in Tepic and I went to grab my ticket for Sayulita. I was lucky, I got a ticket and the bus was leaving in 10 minutes so not much of a wait. This bus was definitely a local bus. It took us about an hour just to leave Tepic! We then stopped all the way to Sayulita making it a 4 hour journey and my total transit time from Chihuahua 34 hours.
At the hostel I checked in and grabbed a little WiFi before going to explore the town some more. My first impression was of a tranquil beach town but then I found the tourist area. It was full of foreigners and everyone speaking English. I don't mind foreigners (I am one after all) but there were so many it felt like it completely changed the place. I'm sure that if I was here outside of season I wouldn't feel the same way. I managed to find some slip slops so my feet could finally be free from shoes!
At the hostel I met a group of new friends and we went out for dinner and from there made our way to the main square to find a party. We only got home at about 2 but didn't really feel the place. The town seems like a bigger scale Huanchaco and therefore has lost some of its charm due to all the tourists and lack of locals. It something feels like it's missing something but unfortunately I'm not going to be here to find out as I (hopefully) will be on a bus tomorrow night.
