I
was up early and said farewell to Joyce before enjoying some pancakes for
breakfast to get my say going. I took a walk to the colectivo station but the
next one was only at 10 so I went to the 2nd class bus terminal where I caught
a bus that was leaving at 9. It's about a 2.5 hour bus ride so I may get some
sleep along the way.

On
the bus I fell asleep before we even left Merida and woke up a few times but
did enjoy sleeping most of the way. When we arrived in CelestĂșn I checked the
bus times for when I return and then made my way to the beach. Along the way I
was offered flamingo tours, boat trips and weed (the weed part is becoming very
common in Mexico). At the beach it felt like we were on a lake as the water was
so flat and still. I took a walk along the beach before needing a swim to cool
off. As this was my first time seeing the Caribbean I had to get in. It took
ages to get any depth so I just enjoyed the shallows before heading out to get
food and beer.

I
found a restaurant on the beach and enjoyed a stuffed fish. This was more what
I was expecting when Rowan and I ordered this in Copacabana. It was a fish
stuffed with mixed seafood. It wasn't the greatest as it was a little
overcooked but definitely an improvement in my last stuffed fish. After lunch I
headed to the bus stop to get a ticked back to Merida.

I
decided not to go see the flamingos (one of the things people come here to do)
as there aren't many around at the moment and I actually was just exhausted
from this heat and humidity. In the bus I fell asleep soon after departure and
actually slept the whole way to Merida. Once in Merida I went to the bus
terminal to sort out my tickets for tomorrow before getting some beer and
heading to the hostel. At the hostel I booked some things for Playa del Carmen
before painting the South African flag on the wall.

I
then enjoyed some beers while chatting to some of the guests and contemplated
costs of going to San Francisco, Vegas and maybe even New York.
