We
got a slow start to the day and were up after 10 where we repacked our bags
before making some breakfast (and found another egg has been stolen). After
some WiFi and got some hitching advice from Gloria (the hostel owner). She also told us to try get to Temuco as
busses are cheap from there and we decided that may be a better option
considering our time schedule. We eventually made our way to the suggested corner at about 1pm and waited about 20min
before a kind Chilean couple picked us up n dropped us off in Villarrica.

In
Villarrica we took a walk along the lake front beach and made our way to the
other end of town where we stood hitching for a while while Rebecca did her
water bottle balancing act to attract some attention. After another 20min or so
a bus headed for Temuco stopped and picked us up. Rebecca used the time on the
bus to sew the zip on her day pack with much amusement (as has become usual) …

Bus
took us all the way to Temuco and as leaving driver asked for something that we
didn't understand. Went to get bags and he was still asking but we still
couldn't understand. Eventually we left the station n walked to the other
terminal to catch the cheap bus (which was quite a walk away). On the walk we
realized that the driver was probably asking for a tip but was not using any of
the words that I know for tip.

We
eventually got to the bus station and found a bus for less than a quarter of
the price than the ones from Pucon so we booked it n went in search of a beer
(and even found some fruit juice for Rebecca). We sat in a restaurant killing
some time and Rebecca continued to sew her bag. After being there a few hours
we ordered some food and made our way back to the bus station to get our bags
and catch the bus.

We
caught the bus which had movies playing and the seats could recline to a decent
angle but for some reason I couldn't get comfortable but did manage to get some
sleep. After a restless night we arrived in Santiago where I woke Rebecca who
couldn’t believe we were here already.
