I
awoke with the sun in my eyes and after a little while I was able to see and
had a great view of the Andes. The closer we got to Mendoza (and after another
little nap) the vineyards started to appear. When we got to the bus stop I
looked at all the bus options and decided I wanted to try get the fancy bus
with a full cama suit but could only get one leaving on 12 Feb but that also
meant I could see Tai and Krista to say farewell so decided to stay in Mendoza
for a while and enjoy some down time while here. I did a quick reshuffle of my
plan and it looks like it can work so booked the bus and made my way to the
hostel.

Even
though it was only 10am the air was hot and without any wind I was sweating
within seconds (it didn’t help that I was carrying a backpack on my back and
front). When I got to the hostel I was too early to check in so just sat in
common area to get WiFi where I managed to update a little of my blog. What
felt like an age (in sweaty clothes) I finally managed to check in and grabbed
a shower and a nap.

Ahh,
that was good. I woke up and chilled in bed for a while before hearing thunder
and then the rain started pissing down! It didn’t last long before it eased up,
but it did manage to flood my room a little which I had to mop up (as I was
pretty much alone in the room and the cleaning staff had gone home for the
day).

I
then went to Liverpool pub to watch the England vs Wales 6 nations game and meet
an English couple I met in Valparaiso but they had already left (I slept
through most of the game) so I went back
to hostel for a beer before catching the River Plate vs San Lorenzo game on TV
and watched it with some people at the hostel.

The
game is much faster and more contact than British football and River Plate won
1:0. After the game most people left but nobody was really interested I talking
so decided to call it a night and headed to bed and read for a while.
