I got up and grabbed some bread with dolce de leche for
breakfast before making my way to Cheryl and Rowan’s hostel for the shuttle
pick up to start our trekking for the day. We took the shuttle to Hostelria El
Pilar and walked from there to Laguna de los Tres ad then back into town.

The last hour of the hike reminded me of the steep uphill to
get to the lake in Torres del Paine. By this stage my legs were dead but they
just kept going with a break every now and then. Eventually I hit the top and
the view was totally worth the effort. By this stage Rowan and Cheryl had been
here for a while and already finished their lunch and met up with Tai and
Krista. We made our way down to the laguna for a quick swim before it got too
cold. The approach had been planned as there was a rock that we could get on
and dive in without having to fight with the rocks underfoot. We all stripped
down and jumped in and it was so refreshing. I think I am making this glacial
water swims a habit.

After the swim We enjoyed the sunshine on the rocks and I
made myself some lunch (I managed to find some salami and cheese so wasn’t just
bread this time). After lunch we returned to El Chalten via Laguna Capri which provided some more
spectacular views (but no swimming in this one).

In town we stopped for more ice-cream before cleaning up and
then meeting back at La Cervesaria for dinner. While sitting here we met Wil
and some people he had been hiking with and had a quick catch up over beer and
pop corn. For dinner I had a cow meat stew which had very little meat but was
extremely tasty. Cheryl and Rowan left to catch their bus to Esquel while Tai,
Krista and I had a few more drinks before calling it a night.
