We
were both a little surprised when the bus pulled up and the driver shouted
"Quito". We got our stuff together and headed for the trole and got a
free ride to our stop which is just around the corner from the hostel.
Unfortunately the trole decided to close the doors before we could get out so
we had to jump out at the next stop and walk back. It was nice and fresh and
good to see the locals out running. It was a bit strange for me that I had to
put a jersey on. Must be the first time since I was in Vilcabamba that I have
done that.

Before
leaving San Jacinto I finally left my sleeping bag behind. I haven't used it in
7 months and I'm only going to warmer climates so it just makes sense not to
keep it.

At
the hostel we were very early so I made my way to the roof terrace and grabbed
some WiFi while Joel caught some sleep on the floor downstairs. After an hour
or so we were able to check in and Joel moved to a bed while I went to get some
more coffee and then a beer.

I
sat on the roof top terrace and enjoyed the view and met some of the guests
before Joel joined me and we went for a walk around old town passing Basilica
del Voto Nacional and then up to El Panecillo to get a great view of the city.

When
we got back to the hostel I went for a nap before getting ready to go watch the
Copa America final (the hosts Chile vs Argentina). We met some guys in the
hostel and all took some cabs to get to an Irish pub in the main party area.
For a cab driver I don't think our cabbie knew how to drive or where he was
going. After going down multiple one ways and missing the turns we decided to
walk the rest of the way.

The
pub was full but we managed to find a spot for our large group. The game was
entertaining and the atmosphere was awesome and to top it off Chile won. I
always love an underdog team winning.

After
the game we went back to the hostel where we had some more drinks and when the
bar shut we went to a club which was a good change to the discotek in San
Jacinto. After not eating much all day and hardly sleeping the night before I
didn't stay out to long. Needless to say the fact that the drinks were so
expensive didn't help.
