I was awake early with the movement in the dorm so I decided to get up and get the day going. I met Ryan for breakfast where we met the owner who is a South African expat. He explained to us that there is no income tax in Belize and that there are plenty of people now trying to get residency in the country but it all happens on Belize time.

We returned to our hostels to pack and checkout before heading to Guatemala. On my way to the bus station I met another South African couple who have been living in Belize for the past year. It sounds like it's a common destination for us.

At the bus station Ryan and I chatted to some locals and other travelers before catching a cab to the border where we got stamped and made our way to Flores. The first offer we got was a cab for 450 Quetzal but made our way and got a colectivo for 30 each. We grabbed some beer and jumped in and were on our way.

In Santa Elena We got a tuk tuk that took us to a hostel in Flores where we left out bags and got walking around the island. It is tiny so this didn't take long. It does have a very nice feel and I'm glad I'm here instead of in San Ignacio for some down time. It does help that there is a festival that is on at the moment. We grabbed some food before walking in circles looking for the cajero and picked up a bottle of rum along the way. After getting cash we enjoyed the sunset with some rum before heading to the hostel to have some mojitos and meet some other guests.

We eventually made our way to the festival to grab some food and drinks. Once our bellies and glasses were full we started dancing and enjoying the live music and meeting the other participants. The rain started falling and the locals all went in search of cover while us gringos just took off our shoes and danced in the puddles. The rain stopped and the locals joined us again and we enjoyed dancing the night away and closed the festivities before heading home.
