I woke up and lay in bed for a while before going to get some WiFi and get the day going. Ryan got up a bit later and we headed to do some laundry and get some food. We found a cool little place on the water where we decided to go kayak around some of the lake.

Ryan and I got chatting to the bar tender last night and he explained that the festival is thrown by about 20 families who own most of the island and each night is a different family's turn to throw the party. The locals get most of the food and drinks for free but as a tourist we pay. He also let us know that the owner of our hostel is the one throwing the party tonight so it should be a good night.

As we were on our way to get a kayak the rain set in and we decided not to go on the water and instead I had a nap to catch up on some sleep. While I was out Ryan went kayaking as the rain stopped and when he returned we took the kayaks across to the rope swings where we enjoyed some swinging into the water before making our way back in the dark.

When we were back on the island we had a shower and went to get some street food before we enjoyed the festival again. It was much busier then the night before and there was no rain this time. The festivities went on well into the morning and we decided to call it a night before they ended in order to enjoy Tikal tomorrow.
