After a long night we took a slow morning and grabbed a late breakfast before joining a tour to Tikal. On the bus we got to know a few people before stopping for some snacks before we got to the site.

Tikal is thought to be the Mayan capital for many years before it was betrayed by one of its allies and lost a war. Some of the royal family survived and later joined forces with some other cities and regained power. The site was impressive with all the temples and uncovered temples that are still covered by the jungle. The jungle has absorbed the city and it’s awesome to see the spider monkeys and howler monkeys roaming the pyramids.

We climbed the main astrological pyramid to enjoy the sunset overlooking the jungle and the sounds of the birds and monkeys going to sleep. After sunset we made our way back to the bus where we grabbed a beer and jumped in. I managed to catch a quick nap on the bus but back on Flores we grabbed the laundry and went to get some street food. On the way we met some locals (who were throwing tonight's party) and they joined us to grab some rum and food before we joined them at Sky Bar. We chatted a little before heading to the hostel to have a shower.

Later in the evening we took a walk to the festival which was not nearly as busy as the night before. We took a walk around and found some of our new friends before dancing a little. We had an early bus so I didn't stay out too late.
