We got the day rolling with going to the Thai embassy so Olivier could get a visa for their trip in January. From here we took a walk past the South African Embassy so I paid them a visit set foot on South African soil.

From here we visited the Museo Nacional de Antropología where Olivier explained some of the pre Hispanic and Myan history. After the museum we took a walk through Chapultepec Park to go visit the palace. The palace was where an Austrian lived who was appointed the emperor by the French after they invaded Mexico. At the time the Mexican president did not recognize or accept the emperor and continued to govern the country from a carriage that he traveled around the country in in order to avoid being caught. The palace provides great views of the city and the park below.

The reason the Myans settled in Mexico City is because they were told by their gods to settle at the place where they see an eagle on top of a cactus eating a snake (the image on the Mexican flag). The complication was that they saw this in the middle of a lake. They slowly reclaimed the lake and this is now where we find Mexico City.

We decided to call an end to the sightseeing and set off to meet some of Olivier's friends for drinks and some lunch. The drinks moved from the bar to a house where we chatted and enjoyed some dancing. Paola also decided to join us. It's strange to think that I have known her 2 or 3 years but never met her.
