Due to the late night we got a slow start to the day. We joined the group for some midday breakfast before Olivier and I cycled into the downtown area to see some of the old buildings. We started on a pedestrian street which was packed full of Christmas shoppers and the occasional tourist. At the main square we had a look at the cathedral and massive Christmas tree before going to visit some ruins. The ruins were of one of the old Mayan temples. This particular one had been expanded 7 times and each time they just built over the previous temple.

From the temple we entered the palace as we entered there was a cactus garden and then we entered a massive courtyard with a fountain in the middle. As we climbed the stairs there is a large mural on the wall which takes you through the Mexican history. Olivier explained some of the mural before we continued up the stairs to enjoy some smaller and equally impressive murals.

At the end of the murals we entered a room which used to be used as the senate. There was also a mask exhibition which we rushed through as it was closing. We then made our way home stopping to get some dinner and admire the revolution monument which was lit in red to celebrate Christmas.

At the house we relaxed a little before bring joined by some friends for another party.
