I didn’t sleep well and was u early so read a bit again in
bed before getting up and getting ready for the glacier trek. Obviously we
needed some food stocks before we went so made our way to the panataria to get
some lunch and also just happened to get some sweet pastries for breakfast.

We then went back to Mathildas for a coffee and wifi before
going across the road to catch our bus. On the bus I fell asleep pretty quickly
and Rebecca had to wake me when we arrived at the ferry to cross Leguna Viedma.

The ferry took us close to the glacier to give us n
understanding of its size. It probably stands about 50m above the water and has
multiple ice bergs floating around in front of it. Unfortunately we didn’t get
to see any cracking off.

From here we went to a landing point where we could get off
the boat and begin our trekking. The trekking started with a little bit of an
introduction of how the day was going to go and history of the glacier. What
amazed me the most was that the glacier used to be about 900m tall and about 25
years ago was about 100m further forward!

We took a walk over some rocks and then made our way onto
the ice where we got some crampons and fixed them to our shoes before starting
our ice trek. My first impression was that the glacier had much more dirt, grit
and rocks on it than I expected and but these all added to the beauty of the
glacier. The stones would get warm in the sun and start melting the ice and
create holes and shapes on the surface which you could look into and see the
most amazing blues and crystal clear pools.

As we walked we saw some more amazing pools and even some
waterfalls in the ice. We made our way off the ice to go look at the face of
the glacier from the rocks where we enjoyed a cup of Tia Maria chilled with
some glacial ice which was older than me!

We then made our way back to the boat pickup point where we
had some lunch before catching some sleep on the boat before getting back on
the bus and sleeping some more.

We made our way back to the hostel to chill and clean up a
little before looking for somewhere to eat. We walked into all the restaurants
on the main road and a few on some side roads looking at menus and just not
deciding what we wanted. Eventually we ended up at Mathildas again and hade
some beef tacos.

We headed out to get some wine to go do a sunset overlooking
the city but the weather was not playing the game after being amazing all day.
Instead we took our wine and went to the Waffleria and had a waffle with berries
and berry ice cream which was amazing!

We then returned to our hostel where we had some wine and
many laughs before calling it a night.
