We were up early to enjoy a big breakfast before getting picked up by the dive instructor and a bus. There wasn’t much space on the bus so I stood for the short trip to the dive site. Once we got our gear Liz gave me some instructions and last minute tips to help calm my nerves.

We took a walk across the road with all the weights and gear on. We made our way to the beach to jump in. We floated a bit getting used to the controls while swimming away from shore. Eventually the instructor gave us the signal to go under the water. It was a strange feeling at first and I had to surface just to compose myself but then went down again and there was no turning back. I loved it!

The dive was amazing and I’m definitely hooked. The dive took us to 27m and lasted 43 minutes which I believe is pretty god for a first dive. We saw all sorts of coral and even a ship wreck. We saw multiple fish and even an eel. I even took puddles down with me in a zip lock bag and when I took him out the bag was compressed and he was all squashed up due to the pressure. This sent multiple bubbles flying from my and Liz’s masks as we laughed at the sight.

After the dive we took a look at the cenotes before taking a taxi back to the casa for a shower before we grabbed some pizza and mojitos for lunch. After lunch we went to the Bay of Pigs Museum. It was also very one sided. There was even a film that showed some of the propaganda that was used at the time which was really interesting.

We attempted to hitchhike to Cienfuegos but a cab picked us up instead and we jumped in. A storm hit us as we were on our way and it was amazing. The roads started to flood but the driver just kept going. The storm only lasted about 10 minutes but it was intense.

In Cienfuegos we tried to get a bus to Trinidad but there would be a 2 hour wait so we grabbed a cab instead. We chatted in the car with the driver to pass the time. We arrived in Trinidad old town and settled into our casa. We took a walk around the old town along the cobbled roads. The main thing that stood out was that people were enjoying their lives on the streets with kids playing with balls and playing dominos. We kept walking and made our way up the bell tower which gave us a great view of the city in all directions. We even spotted a gelato place which we made our way to as soon as we got down. We enjoyed the gelato in Plaza Mayor before walking around a little more and returning to the casa for some chill time and a shower.

We went out to dinner where we enjoyed some good chats and live music. We then made our way to the Rave Cave passing multiple bars along the way. The Rave Cave was a bug disco inside a cave. It was pretty dead inside but we decided to stay for a few drinks. After a while it got busier and we enjoyed some more drinks and some dancing.

We decided to call it a night at about 2 and we returned to the casa where we stayed up and chatted a little more before getting some sleep after a long day.
