I was awake bright and early which was a surprise considering I didn't sleep very well, but I'm heading to the bus station so I'm sure I will be able to catch up on some sleep on my trip to Monterrey.

I packed my bag, checked out and made my way to the corner to grab a cab to the bus station. It didn't take long and I was bobbing around in the very shaky cab. I guess the cobbled roads didn't help. At the terminal de autobús I found the counter I was looking for and there was no queue so got a ticket very easily. I even had time to grab some road munchies before boarding the bus.

When on board I was presently surprised to find that there was internet, private TV and even power points on board. Only thing is that all the entertainment was in Spanish, but that's OK because I have my book.

The bus ride wasn't so bad and I fell asleep after reading a bit. It's been a while since I have been in a bus but I haven't lost my touch. A spent the 6 hour trip either reading or sleeping and I was in Monterrey in no time.

Olivier met me at the bus terminal and we made our way to his parent’s house. I dropped my bag and changed into something cooler as it was very warm. I met his parents before we went to visit his cousin after grabbing some tacos. We sat chatting and enjoyed the view of the city below before heading back to his parent’s place so start the Christmas celebrations.

At his parent’s house I met some more of his family and the festivities began. We all chatted in English and Spanish. It was a good night and amazing to spend it with such a warm and welcoming family. For that, a special thank you to Kristina, Olivier and his parents.
