I
didn't manage to sleep much in the airport as there were no comfortable benches
but I did manage a few winks before checking in and making it through customs
etc very easily. It really feels so strange being in an airport for the first
time in 6 months. It really feels like I am cheating. The flight was only an
hour or so so I didn't manage to sleep much on it but I did get a much needed
ham and cheese sarmie. When we landed I made my way to the next boarding gate
where I only waited for 15 min before boarding.

At
least this flight was longer so I managed to sleep a little before having some
breakfast and then watching a movie. They served some drinks so I grabbed a
wine as my first drink of the day. When I landed and went through the whole
customs process which felt so different to the other border posts I have been
through recently. I got my bag and got walking to the metro to make my way to
the train station. It was pretty simple and cheap and in a few stops and a
train change I arrived at the main bus terminal (Tapo).

My
first impression I got was when we landed the houses were built right up to the
airport boundary walls. After leaving the airport and catching the Metro I had
a look over the city and all I could see was houses, traffic and
"fog". I had to walk a bit to get my ticket and I decided to get the
last bus that leaves at midnight so that I can arrive in the morning after some
rest and get to see the sights.

While
waiting for the bus I grabbed some food (they have a jalapeƱo sauce here that
is awesome) and then did some catching up on some WiFi and even booked a hostel
so I know where to go in the morning.

I
spent the rest of the day watching people and doing some research on the internet
but it soon got very slow and frustrating so gave up on buying my Cuba flights.
I even started a new book (The Little Coffee Shop of Kabul) and had to fight
hard not to fall asleep. To aid this battle even loaded up my bags and took a
walk around a little.

Eventually
it was time where I could check in my bag and I took a walk around again before
taking a seat outside the boarding gate. We eventually started boarding and I
took my seat only to be pulled off the bus a few minutes later and have one of
the bus staff run me to another gate where there was another bus leaving to the
same destination. Not sure why they have that but at least I got onto a bus
going to where I wanted to go.

Now
to finally get some sleep!
